Word on the Street has it that our Superintendent-in-Training, Lynne Cleveland, is going to take this year's 4th grade ITBS scores for those applicants who did not have ITBS scores in 2008 after Ike!!  Rather than give them the ZERO they currently have in their matrix, they'll get their scores from this year which, across the board, were higher than right after Ike!!!

Apparently she won't take all 4th grade ITBS scores for all the applicants to at least resemble a level playing field but will attempt to nullify the "blind" application process for the STEM Magnet Program!

So Cleveland will make exceptions for some applicants but not others!!!  Favoritism? Or is this what Kelly Chambers refers to as "Innovative" ??? 

Once again, GISD has completely screwed up the application process to the magnet program and screwed over all the applicants of the school!!

The issue regarding absences raised in the last article has simply fallen on deaf ears of the administration. So far, no exceptions and no clarification of what "absences" really means.  If a parent followed the GISD POLICY (as the Lack of Trusteess LOVE TO DO), then their child was penalized on the application!

NOTICE TO PARENTS OF 3RD GRADERS:  SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL NO MATTER WHAT!!!!

My question has been and continues to be: DO THESE PEOPLE EVER THINK ABOUT ANYONE BUT THEMSELVES????

The majority of the members of this school board don't really care about what goes on in the schools as long as the TEA ratings make them look good. Were there not students BEFORE Ike, at the end of the previous school year, that were all ready to petition for credit because of excess absences, these students KNEW they were not at school, but because of funny business going on with attendance data, as reported by those responsible for student attendance data, there were many students who some days never even showed up and their attendance records were changed to being present or tardy or whatever it took to boost campus attendance numbers, and these absent students were told they did NOT have excessive absences and therefore did not have to petition for credit. Yep it happened and it is true. Truth is GISD does not even know from one day to the next, if they have to go by their own records, which students are in attendance. There is too much pressure to make the numbers agree with the stories being told. When you lie to yourselves, you can never determine or report the truth. Does a student need to make up time for time or is a student granted, let's say, 3 hours for every one hour they serve?
